Finished glueing in the front knees today and also cut out one of the rear knee's and glued it in place. I laminated two layers of 6mm together for the last one. Also made the parts for some DIY foot braces, and tapered the end of the carlins ready for fitting.

Front Knees
Flipped the kayak over to tack the front knees in place. Clamped them to a support piece of wood. Will mix up epoxy later today to temporarily hold them in place. The plans say to put them in earlier before the inside is taped but I left them so that it was easier to epoxy and tape the inside.

Sanding & More Epoxy
Gave the hull a sand with 80 grit sand paper using the orbital sander. No real runs or rough spots and I think I have the epoxy on pretty thin. Rolled on another (4th) coat of epoxy (correct ratio this time!). I can still see some of the fibreglass weave pattern, but I don't want to put on too much. Perhaps I'll will go with what I've got and go with an undercoat primer on the hull next.

Seat Slats Cut
Cut the slats for the seat from a few pieces of door trim removed when knocking down an old wall. Not sure what the timber variety is but it's a nice brown colour. Also cut the carlins and timber notches for where the carlin meets the deck beam.

More Progress... At Last!!
Haven't been able to do anything on the Kayak over the past several months. Had to travel quite a bit with work and was waiting for some warmer weather so that I fiberglass the hull with multiple coats on the same day. Finally got some warmer weather so fiberglassed the hull of the kayak today. Put three costs on. First one took a couple of hours but everything went well. No major runs or anything I don't think.
